Summer Sunflowers

Sunflower seedlings chillin' on the kitchen windowsill.

Gratuitous cat photo because I like cats.

Recently I was at Bloom in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. The nice people at the Garden School stall showed me how to make these handy little newspaper flowerpots to start seedlings with. So here you can see my sunflowers are starting to come up, they're about 10 days old now. Next week I'm going to transfer them to larger pots. The nifty thing about this is that I can transfer the seedlings - newspaper pots and all - into their new home and eventually the newspaper will biodegrade. I'm actually a very irresponsible plant owner and tend to forget to water them regularly, it's thanks to my Mam these are doing so well.

Named after the coffee?! What kind of tree is it? I'm not good at gardening due to neglect of plants, but I have good intentions and enjoy the concept of it all :D
